Types Of Social Groups..

Social groups vary in size, quality of group interaction, purpose, structure, or combinations of these. One criterion of the classification of groups is the character of social interaction obtained in the group as can be seen from such established classifications as the primary and secondary groups, the in-group and the out-group, Gemenschaft and Gesseslschaft, and the formal and informal groups, these classifications represents ideal types, theoretical ideas, or constructs existting only in the minds and so the actual types may not exactly conform to their characteristics. these dichotomies of social groups are useful only insofar as they help one understand the actual or real types by providing bases for comparing and analyzing existing conditions or situations.
